In normal times, David Hackenberg would begin trucking his 20 million honeybees from the almond orchards of California to the orange groves of Florida about now.

Oscar Manbeck, a Bethel pork producer, recently served as a delegate to a national pork convention in Kansas City, Mo.
Manbeck was one of 163 delegates from 44 states who attended the Pork Act Delegate Assembly March 4-6 to offer input on pork promotion, research and consumer information programs funded by the Pork Checkoff through the National Pork Board.
Manbeck was named a delegate by Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack.

Swarms of bees have showered parts of southern Taiwan with their droppings, leading locals to believe aeroplane toilets were being emptied over their homes, authorities said Friday.
"Bee droppings are harmless to human health but it's very difficult to wash off," Kaohsiung city's environmental protection bureau said in a statement.
"The bureau can't doing anything about the bees so we urge the public to be careful."

It might not be much fun - but an ancient therapy which involves bees stinging patients to cure their ailments is causing a buzz in China.
Doctors at a traditional Chinese medical clinic in northeast Beijing say the therapy has been proved effective in curing bone and joint diseases, as well as other problems.
When the patient is ready, the doctor uses tweezers to pick up bees one by one and places them on the acupoint of the suffering joint.

The new campaign by the British Beekeepers' Association's (BBKA) places the honeybee alongside tigers and orang-utans in a list of animals which can be "adopted" in a bid to help reverse declining numbers.
